Throughout week 7 I feel like I have really been struggling to grasp what is going on in this class. Organizing and breaking down the stories in the planner, preparing to write the essay, something I cannot seem to understand. It's been difficult to communicate with my group members on it since our views are so different but it's been helpful to have different opinions. I feel like breaking down things is harder for me than just to look at it and write an essay. I'm excited to see what else I can learn from this though, although I am nervous for my grade...
This class is really challenging me but I knew that is exactly what it was going to do so I'm just trying to push myself to take in as much as I can. Sometimes when things are worded in a certain way it is hard for me to understand it the way it is meant to be taken. Over all this week has stressed me out a small amount just because I feel a little lost in what I'm being asked to do but it's nice to be challenged and be prepared for college.

Week 1: Stepping Out of the Comfort ZoneComing into this class I was very scared since it is an AP Class. After learning about how my teacher wants us to learn I feel a lot more comfortable. I like that we can choose a book for our author study and our teacher seems willing to help. Throughout week one, I learned what a reading rate was and how important it is to know your own reading rate. I always felt like I had to keep up with the majority of the class which made me blow through all of my reading. I also learned what an author study was. I also learned that it is important to find a book you enjoy that way you can really focus and relate to the book. Reading does not have a specific rate to which you need to read and I like that our teacher understands that people have to set their own pace. I think I am most excited to be more open to new ideas and genres throughout the year. I also like that we get a chunk of books to choose from. It puts me out of my comfort zone but it also gives me the option to choose what I am reading. I have already started my book and it is something I would not have chose on my own so I am glad I am being put out of my comfort zone and trying a new genre. Already in the first week, I realize how important reading is and how much of an impact it can have on your life and your path.
